Please join Corinne Peterson and Myrna Weinman for an afternoon of NIA, Yoga, and Yoga Nidra in preparation for the Spring Equinox! As the days get longer, and the earth quickens, the warm weather gradually returns, beckoning new life. As women, we are connected to the Earth’s rhythms and instinctually begin to embrace the returning light. Something in us awakens, bringing us energy and strength for this life journey, supporting ourselves, our families, our communities and the world. It is more important than ever to come together as women to dance, move, breathe, relax and restore!
Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (CDT)
All women are welcome – bring your friends, sisters, mothers – all those women you hold dear! No experience necessary. Please bring whatever you need for comfort and support to lie on the floor for yoga nidra (mat, blanket, pillows…). The practices can also be done sitting in a chair. We look forward to seeing you then!
What is Nia? Nia’s philosophy is: “Through Movement We Find Health.” Based on the idea that exercise should feel good inside and out, Nia is a somatic movement practice that incorporates martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. As an ongoing practice, Nia promotes mindfulness, holistic fitness and well-being. Nia empowers people of all shapes and sizes to connect to their body, mind, emotions and spirit by paying attention to sensation. Expect simple repetitive choreography combined with whole body movement that is completely adaptable and can be done from a chair.
What is Yoga Nidra? iRest® Yoga Nidra is a form of guided mindfulness meditation. It is a systematic process for leading the body and mind into receptive states of relaxation and deep presence. Through this process we are able to access inner healing and the pure awareness of being. Yoga Nidra is a powerful tool to help eliminate stress, overcome insomnia, solve problems, resolve trauma, and neutralize anxiety, fear, anger and depression. It is a process we can use to explore our life experiences and enter into a deeper connection with all that is.
