On Thurdsay, November 2, Northwestern University hosted four Tibetan Buddhist scholars — three Buddhist monks and a graduate science teacher — for an in-depth training program in human neuroscience. These scholars are spending two months in classes, learning about the techniques of western neuroscience and conducting an independent study on the neuroscience of lucid dreaming. Heartwood hosted these scholars for an informal Chai Chat.
This program is supported by the Dalai Lama and the Emory-Tibet Science Initiative (ETSI) and is part of a larger initiative to expand the Tibetan monastic curriculum and to grow conversations and collaborations between scientists and Buddhist monastics.
