Core Teaching of the Buddha
April 19, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 2:00 pm on day Third of the month, repeating until December 20, 2015
Instructor: Venerable Shaku Mui (Sensei Mui)
At Heartwood in the upstairs Classroom
The teaching of the Buddha as taught in the Pali Canon gives us instructions on how to be happier, more at peace, and free of the causes of emotional pain. The main focus of the Buddha’s teaching was about “suffering” and the cessation of “suffering”.
During the 49 years Siddhattha Gotama (Shakyamuni Buddha) taught, developed and addressed ideas that are today being confirmed by cognitive psychology, neuroscience and quantum physics.
These ongoing workshops will pick a different theme each month; we will explore the myriad forms of human experience and dive deeply into our own personal experiences as well. In this way we can better understand the causes of our own psychological development and that of others. We will view the teaching from the Buddha’s perspective, followed by analyzing the teachings as how they apply to us as individuals, and conclude with a meditation.
The Buddha offered us 40 objects of meditation and many variations on how to meditate on them. Giving us a diverse toolbox from which to draw.
