The journey from perimenopause into menopause is a time of change, challenge and transformation. Though we share commonalities, the experience is unique for each woman – affecting different facets of our lives. During this time our physical bodies begin to change, memory shifts, and emotions fluctuate. Women with children witness them growing older, perhaps just entering school or even going off to college. Parents are also aging and may need more care, or may be at the end-of-life.
Each woman’s journey is unique, fluctuating throughout the course of perimenopause. Often our modern world views this time of life as a set of symptoms to be managed. Insomnia, hot flashes, anxiety, sadness, changing menstrual cycles, joint pain, brain fog, or other symptoms, might be part of the experience. While yoga can help us navigate these symptoms, it can also help us understand them within a larger picture. It is a time for deep introspection and growing into ourselves. Questions arise: Who am I? How do I deal with these changes in my body? How do I feel about my past choices? What do I want for myself and the rest of my life? Even though menses may officially end, this transformation continues into menopause.
Throughout the series will use yoga movement, breath, chanting, and iRest® Yoga Nidra Meditation to support body, mind and spirit. Please join us as we come together to explore this deeply transformative time, in this non-competitive, supportive environment. All women are welcome – experienced students and beginners alike.
