The Heartwood Foundation Women and Cancer Program, an affiliation of Heartwood Center for Body Mind Spirit, is announcing an opportunity to double the financial gifts it receives. An anonymous donor has committed to match all year-end donations dollar for dollar up to $10,000. With the holiday season here, the WCP is asking all who believe in the program to make an end-of-year contribution.
The Heartwood Foundation Women and Cancer Program is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization providing wellness care services to lower income women over the age of 18, who live in the Chicagoland area and have had a cancer diagnosis. The program includes: 6 free acupuncture, massage or psychotherapy sessions, 12 free yoga, tai chi, meditation or dance classes, a speaker’s bureau to provide educational programs to local organizations, and clinics and classrooms in Beverly, Evanston, Forest Park, Hyde Park, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Logan Square, Oak Park, Pilsen, Rogers Park, and West Town.
The Foundation has been serving local lower income women for over 10 years by providing a wide range of complementary therapies and classes free of charge. Because they are a 501 c(3) not-for-profit organization, independent from any social services agency, they are in large part funded solely by individual donors, fund-raising events and grants. While the WCP is proud of their accomplishments in serving local women and making a difference in their lives, the need for their services continues to grow each year.
To make an online contribution to the WCP, please visit the website at www.heartwoodwomenandcancer.org. Regardless of the amount, every donation helps the WCP to continue providing the high quality, compassionate care that program participants need.
